    Draft lottery

Fourteen non-playoff teams, 1,000 ping-pong combinations, four picks drawn live. TakeCourt runs the same odds and the same four-slot drop protection the NBA uses, determining the trajectory of your entire offseason.

    Drawing the No. 1 pick…

    Step 02

    Build the roster

Scout the class, read combine numbers, and pick for fit instead of hype. Fill fifteen roster spots with rookies, veterans on value deals, and the free agents your cap space can actually afford. Every player has an archetype, a development curve, and a contract that will matter two seasons from now.

    Simulate the season

Set the rotation and tactics, then let the engine play the games. Watch a single matchup possession by possession or skip straight to the standings, injuries, awards, and the playoff bracket. Player development happens across the year, so a rebuild you started in the lottery pays off on the court.

      Trade, RFA, and the cap

The offseason is where dynasties are made. Match salaries in the trade machine, decide whether to match a rival's offer sheet in restricted free agency, and stay under the tax line without losing your core. This is the part of an NBA general manager simulator most games skip — TakeCourt is built around it.

      Where it fits

Not 2K MyGM. Not Fantrax. A browser GM sim.

Original teams and players, free to open, simulated with text and data instead of 3D. If you have been searching for a Football Manager for basketball, this is the lane.

      vs Basketball GM

      Same browser. Deeper front office.

      • NBA-style draft lottery with 1,000 combinations, run live.
      • Restricted free agency with offer sheets you can match or decline.
      • Online ranked and friend matches alongside the single-player dynasty.
How it compares to Basketball GM
      vs NBA 2K MyGM

No install. No controller. No $70.

      • Text and data simulation: a season resolves in minutes, not weeks.
      • Opens in a tab on a laptop or phone — nothing to download.
      • Every screen is about GM decisions, not on-court gameplay.
How it compares to 2K MyGM
      vs fantasy dynasty leagues

You are the GM, not a fantasy owner.

      • No league to join, no draft night to schedule, no waiting on real games.
      • Real cap rules, real consequences: contracts, tax, protections.
      • Run a franchise for ten seasons in a weekend.
Why it is not a fantasy league

      Depth

Everything you do as GM, in one season loop

Scouting, player development, tactics, playoffs — then the offseason resets the board and your dynasty compounds. This is an NBA team builder simulator and an NBA career simulator for the person in the suit, not the one in the jersey.

      Scouting

Scout reports, combine measurements, and a board you build yourself. The draft rewards preparation, not the consensus.

      Player development

Archetypes grow along realistic curves. Minutes, age, and the academy decide whether your No. 3 pick becomes a star or a salary dump.

      Tactics

Pace, pick-and-roll frequency, switching schemes, eight-man rotations. The simulation reads your tactics and your opponent's counters.

      Playoffs

Seeding, play-in, best-of-seven series, and awards. Text and data simulation you can watch live or skip to the box score.

      Salary cap & RFA

Cap, tax line, exceptions, and Restricted Free Agency offer sheets. Salary matching in the trade machine is enforced, not decorative.

      Dynasty over seasons

Rosters, picks, and contracts carry forward year after year. The rebuild you start today is the title window you open in season four.

      Questions

      NBA GM simulator FAQ

TakeCourt is the closest thing to Football Manager for basketball that runs in a browser. You act as the general manager of a 30-team league: run the draft lottery, draft, sign and trade players, manage the salary cap, and simulate seasons until you have built a dynasty. It is a basketball manager game first — the on-court action is simulated, and your job is the decisions around it.

TakeCourt is being prepared as a free NBA GM simulator that runs entirely in your browser — no download, install, or console. The private beta waitlist is open now, with invitations rolling out in waves before the public beta.

No. TakeCourt is not licensed by the NBA and does not include NBA teams, logos, uniforms, photos, or official player statistics. The game uses original franchises, fictionalized player identities, and simulated ratings and results.

Both are free browser basketball GM games, and Basketball GM is a great one. TakeCourt leans into the modern front-office loop: an NBA-style draft lottery you can watch draw, restricted free agency with offer sheets, cap and tax lines that constrain the trade machine, scouting and player development — plus online ranked and friend matches next to the single-player dynasty. Read the full comparison.

NBA 2K MyGM is a 3D mode inside a paid console game. TakeCourt is a text and data simulation you open in a browser tab: nothing to install, no controller, and a whole season simulates in minutes, so your time goes to GM decisions instead of on-court gameplay. See the side-by-side.

An NBA rebuild simulator lets you tear a roster down and build it back up: sell veterans for picks, live with the lottery odds, develop young players, then flip assets for stars when your window opens. In TakeCourt the rebuild is not a separate mini-game — it is the core loop of the dynasty mode, and every season's choices carry into the next.
